She had been cleared three years earlier of attempting to murder her third husband Richard Thompson with a baseball bat and a carving knife during a bondage sex session. However the truth of her crimes only emerged seven years after the murder, when his body was exhumed from a family plot in Hayling Island, Hampshire, in 2001. At the time Thompson claimed he had taken his own life. He died of an overdose of antidepressants and aspirin on his 31st birthday. Mr Webb had a penchant for very hot curry - and prosecutors claimed the spice would have likely masked the taste of the bitter-tasting antidepressants. She hid anti-depressants in Mr Webb's favourite meal and laced his drinks with ground aspirin. Thompson, 61, was jailed for life in 2003 after she was convicted of killing Mr Webb at their home in Yapton, Sussex, in June 1994. The Parole Board has now granted Dena Thompson's bid to be released after 19 years behind bars for the murder of her second husband, Julian Webb.
